Immersive Visual Artists Premiering on our 40 foot screen

Los Angeles Premiere of “Visual Dancing” by VJ Andreas Lange (Germany)

VJ Andreas (Germany) is a photo, video, and concept artist. He came to tango in 2005 and has since been interested in dance and music, both in the so-called traditional field and in alternative concepts. In 2015 he expanded his artistic work to the field of visual live performance. Since then, his live performances can be found at many neo-tango events in Europe. He takes the mood of the music and the dancers and transforms it live into visual elements. These are created by mixing and changing various graphic elements in real-time, and in turn, influence the dancers. He calls his live performance Visual Dancing.

“‘Visual Dancing’ is not a slogan, but actually describes what I do.I try to be as open and free as possible to the energy and emotions on the dance floor.. Added to this are the energy and emotions of the music. I am fully in the moment. It’s a kind of meditation. Under this influence I choose the content, stay with it or switch to something else, mix the content and play it with or without effects. In doing so, I feel completely free and in the moment.”

World Premiere of “Ocean Embrace” by VJ Alison Bradley

Alison, a co-organizer and DJ of NeotangoLA is making her VJ debut at the festival this year, with immersive visuals designed to immerse you in the beauty of our natural world. During her performance on Saturday, she will take you on a journey around the world, from the stars into the sea…dance with whales without getting wet!

Nocturna – THE ART OF DARKNESS

30 minutes that might just change your (tango) life

Explore the dark side of tango with us as we turn off the lights and dance to a sensual, intimate set of alternative and classical music, in complete darkness. You will wear a luminescent wrist band, and the ronda will turn into a beautiful field of floating fireflies. We will change partners after every song, magical connections will be made, your senses will expand, and you might just spend the rest of the festival trying to find that mystery tanguero/a with whom you had such a magical connection.

Originating in the blues dance scene in Toulouse, Neotango DJ Nueva Guardia introduced this extraordinary experience to the European neotango community, and Neotango DJ Jean-Marc spread it far and wide, from Berlin to Buenos Aires. As far as we know, Neotango LA at the Gavito Tango Festival was the first time a Nocturna has been presented at a tango festival in the United States. Don’t miss this very special experience!

Limited to 70 dancers, first-come, first-served. Meet us in the Neotango room Friday and Saturday night at 1am and blow your tango mind. xoxo
