The Gavito Tango Festival in Los Angeles
The Gavito Tango Festival at Biltmore Hotel is a one-of-a-kind event that brings together the finest tango dancers, instructors, and musicians from around the world to one of the most iconic and luxurious hotels in the United States. This festival is named after Carlos Gavito, one of the most celebrated tango dancers of all time, and is a celebration of his life and legacy.
The Biltmore Hotel, located in the heart of Los Angeles, California, provides an elegant and sophisticated setting for this festival. The hotel’s grand Crystal ballroom serves as the main venue for the festival, providing ample space for workshops, performances, and social dancing. The ballroom’s stunning chandeliers, high ceilings, and ornate decorations create a romantic and enchanting atmosphere that perfectly complements the passion and beauty of tango.
The festival offers an array of activities for tango enthusiasts of all levels, including workshops and seminars taught by world-renowned instructors, music by some of the best tango DJs, and social dancing that lasts late into the night.
In addition to the dance and music events, the festival also offers opportunities for participants to explore the rich history and culture of tango through exhibitions, films, and other cultural activities. This provides a unique and immersive experience that connects participants to the roots and traditions of tango, and deepens their appreciation for this beautiful art form.
The Gavito Tango Festival at the Biltmore Hotel is a truly unforgettable experience that combines the passion and beauty of tango with the luxury and sophistication of one of the most iconic hotels in the United States.
All four days during the daytime, maestros will be teaching a series of progressive workshops, let’s take advantage and learn from some of the BEST in the World! At night we will be graced with inspirational and exquisite traditional, neotango and alternative music, as well as amazing performances.
For those of you who know us and who have been at Milonga Gavito, our love and passion for tango also translates into embracing and welcoming different tango genres, and we are very pleased to also include a second ballroom dedicated to the first ever Neotango LA Marathon, as a part of the Gavito Tango Festival. We will feature 3 days of afternoon and evening alternative music milongas, Friday through Sunday. The Neotango LA Marathon portion of the Gavito Festival will take place in the same venue but in a separate ballroom, featuring an excellent lineup of DJs, including Michael McCarrell and Alison Bradley of Los Angeles, and others.
We will be dancing on Jim Baker’s delightfully smooth, custom tango dance floor so enjoyed by dancers at the Tucson and San Diego Tango Festivals.
And of course, if you are interested in renewing your tango wardrobe, and adding more shoes to your collection, we will have the best vendors in the house:
- Shoes by Tango Splash (Yolanda Rossi)
- Shoes by Julia Bella (Julia Schiptsova)
